Fabulous, rarely found PAIR of 19th Century English Adam Period Nightstands finely crafted with (gorgeous) Flame Mahogany veneers & hand painted floral garland, ribbon, & portrait plaques in the style of Angelica Kauffman & Pergolesi. Each table has two drawers, a large storage area behind cabinet doors, custom fitted glass tops, & tapered legs ending in spade feet. This set & many other treasures we will be listing soon have been with the same family for over 100 years. They were acquired by a newlywed couple around 1920 during a European shopping trip to furnish their home...So by that date alone the nightstands are at least 100 years old - but were said to be Antiques or at least "Vintage" at that point. I would date them to 1880-1900 at latest, but they could be much older. Very good overall condition especially considering their age. Obviously well built, ready to use. All of the drawers & doors open & close easily. We do not have keys to the locks. One of the glass tops has a couple of small chips on the edges. One table has a slightly cloudy finish on the very top where the varnish has oxidized - you can't really see it when the glass top is on. There are small losses to the paint decorations, veneer chips & splits as shown in photos. Both tables have noticeable horizontal indentations in the side panels where the seams of the backing structure pieces made of solid wood (looks like Mahogany) are attached to the main frame. One table has very old obvious horizontal seam repairs to its' side panels on both sides - this was probably caused by expansion & contraction through the years. One of the feet has a sheered off edge. One of the doors has a small hole in it even with the door pull on the other side - it looks like someone drilled a hole to add a drawer pull.
