They produced high-quality pieces of both porcelain & earthenware, which soon became popular among the elite European aristocracy. Royal Bonn used a variety of marks to distinguish the firm's wares. Among these were a monogram-and-tower on exported pottery, the name 'Bonn', the initials FM & a crown. in 1890 both 'Royal' & '1755' were added to the pottery mark & were used continuously until 1920. in 1921, Royal Bonn was purchased by Villeroy & Boch & subsequently closed in 1931. This gorgeous plate was made by Royal Bonn. It is in the Bleu Hortensia pattern. It is a gorgeous chinoiserie piece featuring hydrangeas (Hortensia) & peonies. This is tin-glazed earthenware & the blue-on-blue colorway is extremely satisfying. This piece bears an incised & underglaze mark. They indicate that it was made between 1890 & 1920. It is in nice vintage condition there is some crazing in the glaze that is commensurate with its 100-plus years of age. It was made & intended to be used for decoration.
