These 3 pieces were hand crocheted by her grandmother for her Aunt Alice in the early 1920's. The family was German Lutheran & lived in Anamoose, a very small town in North Dakota. Church was the only place to wear something like these gowns. Susan said these dresses were passed down to her in a small box with little notes attached to them, but that family members who would know more about them have all passed away. These are gorgeous & lovely & feminine! There is a very delicate dress that is so dainty. It measures 4 1/4 inches across the open neck. Where the ends of the shoulder are & the sleeves begin is a width is 9 1/2 inches (from shoulder tip to shoulder tip). The dress is a little over 20 inches long. The back closure is a button. The dress has flowers crochet into the pattern. The dress is white. There is a gorgeous slip or long, long dress with a 2 1/2 inch neck opening. Where the ends of the shoulder are is a width of 7 inches (from shoulder tip to shoulder tip). The slip/dress is a little over 21 inches long so it extends a tiny bit below the dress. The back closure is a hook & eye. The sleeveless dress/slip is white. It can be worn with the dress, alone or with the jacket over it. Lastly, there is a little jacket. The neck opening is 3 1/2 inches wide. It is 9 inches long. It has butterflies in the crochet pattern. The jacket is white. These pieces are about 100 years old but the thread is in excellent shape as is the fabric. They have all been preserved & cared for so well. The owner wants a new owner to have them as she, Susan, doesn't have grandchildren to pass them on to or any close relatives. Thanks so much for shopping today.
