I'm not sure how to describe this walking stick, & it's affect on me & how it relates to my life. Because it's not about me. It's about the ones who struggle with the circumstances of life. The ones who run up against the tough challenges that they face by making the best of it & by adaptingsometimes through tears, sometimes with a smile, & many times alone. It's a privilege to be able to help in my small way in adapting & coping with sometimes crippling & tough circumstances that so many face in life. I could list the struggles, but it would fill the page, & I would still miss something. I will never forget the woman in Hawaii who ordered a walking stick filled with beautiful flowers & plants from her paradisacal islands. She suffered balance issues from the effects of MS. "I want to walk into a room," she said when she ordered the stick, "and I want the attention to be paid on the walking stick & not on the crippled woman behind it." That's what I hoped to achieve with this walking stick who goes to a woman facing challenges in her life. I loaded the top of the stick with those beautiful, delicate little blue flowers we call "Forget Me Nots." She didn't ask for them, but I put them there nonetheless so she will know that this stick-maker will never forget her & the many others who are often quiet heros, fighters, & courageous spiritual giants living & walking all around us.
