"In German, "edel" means noble & "weiss" means white. The symbolic meanings of the edelweiss flower are daring, courage & noble purity. These meanings are derived from the plant's ability to grow in harsh mountain climates & from its white coloring." Edelweiss is a protected plant in many countries; including Poland, Italy, Serbia, Austria & Germany.
