The frame is stained a black. It was milled in house The mat has openings for K1 through Senior. The mat is gray stained & slides into the wooden frame. K1 through 11th grade are for photos sized at 2 1/2inch by 3 1/2 inch wallet & a 5 x 7 inch is for the Senior photo. The opening itself is 2 inches by 3 Inches. & 4 & 1/2 by 6 & 1/2.
