Almost 2 3/4 pounds of pure unadulterated brilliance This antique Egyptian Piano shawl was obviously made for a wealthy tourist or for someone of great importance. This art deco geometric designed heavy Hand embroidered assuit shawl must have taken at least a year to sew, one stitch at a time. It blows me away just holding it in my arms. When you wrap this around your body, you will without a doubt feel like royalty yourself. Bellydancers are simply spectacular in these on stage & in photos. Collectors drool over these wide & heavy design work shawls, but I believe every home should have the luxury of owning one to pass along to the next generation & to tell the story of these amazing craftswomen. This is a whopping 80 inches long by x 40 inches wide. The Cotton & possibly linen mix) of the tulle is a beautiful golden blond color, which doesn't photograph well here, & the silver really shines against it making it dazzling in every way. The patterns are geometric diamonds all over, not a spare inch of plain tulle fabric. Due to the massive weight of the silver on a shawl of this size, it is normal to have a couple of holes or damage. It is 100 years old! Two tears (both shown in photos ). One was repaired in the past. There are also a few scattered breaks in the net, not noticeable & a couple of tiny spots if you look closely. It is wearable just as it is Gold tulle with tons of bright sparkling silver, What is not to love? The value of these increases every year & will continue to do so.
