Old, gorgeous, interesting. Similar cups may be found in several Russian museums, they were of slightly different models & most likely made by private factories (the majority of such cups are unmarked). Some have lids, some don't. Some had female counterparts. The exotic characters they portrayed didn't really have any specific national identity, their role was to bring the unusual into everyday life, to tickle the imagination & to decorate. A tiny chip on the back of the rim (please see pictures 5 & 6), otherwise in a nice antique condition. 12 cm tall.
