Sweet little mid-century cedar souvenir trinket box from Gettysburg, PA with a darling little FAWN on the lid. Front of the box says, "Gettysburg, Pa." I recall this was a souvenir from a school trip we took when I was in elementary school & I used all my money to purchase it! It was a dear item to me & I had planned to give it to my mom when I returned but I think she gave it back to me, knowing how precious it was that I would use ALL my money for it! It is made of cedar, but the lovely smell has faded years ago, & now it only holds a few rings, earrings, coins or necklaces...or other little trinkets you might want to keep handy. Lid closes securely with a bale type metal latch & it has 2 metal hinges in good condition. Fawn on the lid is missing a bit of one ear, but she is still as cute as can be! Very retro! Box has some scuffs & marks where it was used over the years. Inside is clean & smooth. This was probably the smallest box they had, but I loved the little Fawn on the lid so much, it had to come home with me! This probably wasn't the lesson we were supposed to learn at Gettysburg, but because of this box, the memory of that trip has stayed with me all these years....so it was money well spent! & now it is time to clean out & the kids & grandkids have no room or interest, so it needs a good new home!
