Description
This is an early 19th c. cast iron mortar in a small size, measuring 3 7/8" tall & 3 1/2" diameter at the lip. It is signed on the bottom with Kenrick & Co. in 1791, Archibald Kenrick set up an iron foundry business in West Bromwich, England. The name was changed in 1827 to Kenrick & Sons so this mortar dates to between 1791 & 1827. It is in clean condition but does show wear. There is no pestle. There is very old oxidation around the outer lip, so this was most likely stored in a holder when not in use. Antique Cast Iron Mortar, Small Size, Signed Kenrick
