This is a fabulous original oil painting by john eaton walker with nameplate titled "the shoeblack". it is signed in the lower right hand corner & there is craquelure with the glaze due to age. it depicts a man or boy shining a wealthy man's shoes who is reading a newspaper. it is in a gold ornate gesso frame that has holes on the sides where it was screwed into the wall so it would not get stolen (i guess). a rare find of 1800's art. john eaton walker was born in birmingham england & moved to london in the 1850's. 1824-1896. 1800's Antique John Eaton Walker Ornate Framed Original Oil Painting "The Shoeblack" Boy Shining Shoes For The Wealthy 13" X 15"~ 1800's Art
