Description

A spectacular, large & heavy cut glass/crystal centerpiece bowl, ca. 1900, from what is called the "American Brilliant Period" of glass manufacturing (ABP). I have not been able to identify the manufacturer or pattern, but it may be by Pairpoint Glass, of New Bedford, MA - they were famous for a "Daisy" or "Daisy & Leaf" pattern that looks very much like the pattern on the bottom of this bowl. in any case, this is a high-quality bowl, almost certainly lead crystal (it weighs just over 4 1/2 pounds), with a lovely ringing tone. This is one of several pieces of cut glass (including another similar centerpiece bowl) that I am selling for a friend, who inherited them; her family owned a paper company in the midwest, & definitely had "the finer things"! This was difficult to photograph, but is truly beautiful in person, especially in indirect or raking light. dimensions: 9" diameter, 4 1/2" tall; glass is just over 3/8" thick Condition: Excellent, with light shelf/table wear on the bottom, & a few very minor scratches near the bottom. The bottom part of the bowl (the "leaf" area) also has a few streaks/wavy spots in the uncut glass areas (manufacturing flaws, I assume) - only really noticeable if you go looking for them. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, & thanks for visiting my shop!
