Ceramic wall plate B.Johansson, vintage wall plaque, Deco Helsingborg, Swedish vintage, handmade & painted This charming tile was made in the 1960s by the famous Swedish manufacturer Deco Helsingborg. The manufactory was established in the early 1950s under the name Dekorativa Smidesprodukter, producing both forged items & ceramics, & in the late 1950s switched to purely ceramic production. Accordingly, they also changed their name to DECO Bosättnings AB. The production consisted mainly of tableware & other household items. Famous series from this period are Decos Skånska & Decos Franska, which were designed by Helsingborg artist Georg Wide. Production was done by hand in several factories in Olympia, but was eventually moved to a larger & more modern facility in Tågaborg. The number of employees then reached about 100 people. in the late 1960s, ceramics declined in popularity, in part because they were dishwasher-safe. Several artists were involved in the production, but it was the introduction of Rosa Ljung pottery decorated with flowers to the market that brought the company notoriety. in the mid-1970s, the company grew so much that another factory was opened, this time in Torekowo. Accordingly, the company changed its name to DECO Helsingborgs Keramikfabrik AB. in 1985, the Helsingborg branch was closed & the name was changed to Rosa Ljung Keramik AB due to a change of ownership. Later, the company changed its name again, this time to Torekov Keramik AB, which finally went bankrupt in 2008 ATTENTION We ship worldwide. If your country is not listed, please write to me.
