Description
Remington Rand is a company noted for their typewriters. in my research to find information about this fingerprint kit made by Remington, my search came up empty. This set was used by the JONES & LAUGHLIN STEEL CORPORATION as part of their employee identification process. Jones Laughlin Steel was an American Iron Company, founded in 1852 by Bernard Lauth & Benjamin Franklin Jones, a few miles south of Pittsburgh along the Monongahela River. Why they fingerprinted their employees, I have no idea. The kit includes: Jones & Laughlin paper for fingerprints to be applied. Three bottles of fingerprint ink, one tube of slab ink & a bottle of Ace Stain off, & the board the ink was placed onto to ink hands. Top of the case has a place the paper would go into & held in place to stabilize for inked prints. Inks are someone dried - I would not use, but the basic system of the kit could be used today. The exterior of the case needs a good cleaning. Stainless corners & latches have rusted. Outside box measures 9 x 8.5 x 4 inches. The piece in the front of the box to hold the paper adds another 1" to the height making it 5 inches tall) Kit weighs 4.0 lbs as is. PLEASE READ I offer free shipping to the continental US. However, due to the increase cost of shipping there may be additional charges for postage to send to: Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, & Guam. Please contact me before ordering from these areas.
