Benjamin Olsen. It has the title Fishing boat south of Elsinore Castle. The 1935 Christmas plate depicts a fishing boat, with a Christmas Tree on the top of its mast, sailing off Elsinore castle, a renaissance castle, built 1574-1585 by Frederik II with the purpose of collecting tolls from passing ships. The castle is known all over the world for being the setting of Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet. Hamlet was first performed at Elsinore castle in 1816. Since then Elsinore Castle has often been the scene of Shakespeare productions. This wonderful Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate from 1935 was only produced in 1935. It is in excellent vintage condition.
