Ming Dynasty Bronze Phoenix Oil Lamp. Stands about 8" tall. The Phoenix represented power sent from the heavens to the Empress. If a Phoenix was used to decorate a house & it symbolized that loyalty & honesty were in the people that lived there. This lamp was created by skilled craftsmen in the traditional style. The body of the Phoenix is hollow. The fumes produced by the kerosene or wax will be blocked by shade, & pass into the bodies of the Phoenix.
