STAMP INFORMATION: Name: American Sign Language: Recognizing Deafness "I Love You" Year: 1993 Face Value: 29 cents History: On September 20, 1993 the USPS issued this stamp honoring American Sign Language (ASL) & recognizing deafness. ASL is the fourth most common language in the United States, & is used by more than 500,000 deaf people in the U.S. & Canada. One frequently used sign is the "I Love You" sign, which combines three letters from the manual alphabet (where finger positions represent each letter of the alphabet) to form one sign. These stamps are perfectly suitable for use as postage for mailing with USPS, as long as you use the adequate amount of postage to achieve standard postage rates.
