Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul Blessings Doll Though we may not see a religious Sister or Nun as often in our neighborhood as we have in the past, their presence, in many ways, is still felt around the world today. These virtuous women sacrificed so much so we all could have a better life. They educated us, prayed for us & kept us in their hearts. They've cared for the sick, the dying, the poor & the homeless, as they still do today. Even in their reduced numbers, & without their traditional habits, they continue to do good deeds. The Blessings Expressions of Faith Doll Collection is a collection of nun dolls that were meticulously crafted in their solemn traditional habits. They were created to carry on, promote & honor the memories of our beloved Catholic nuns. Sadly, these dolls are NO longer in production. This nun doll represents a Catholic religious belonging to the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. Mother Elizabeth Seton founded this congregation in Maryland in 1809. The congregation was initially called the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph's. in 1811, the sisters adopted the rules of the Daughters of Charity, co-founded in France by Vincent de Paul & Louise de Marillac. The community is dedicated to the care of the children of the poor. This was the first congregation of religious sisters founded in the United States, & its school was the first free Catholic school in America. This Sister of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul doll is exquisitely detailed, historically accurate & authentically reproduced. From the elegant simplicity of her habit & her beautiful accessories, right down to the tips of her long & graceful fingers, this nun doll was painstakingly & perfectly crafted. The wedding ring on her right hand is a tender symbol of her marriage to Christ. The habit consisted of a black bonnet & black dress with a shoulder cape. The garment unseen under her habit were meticulously restored all the way down to the folds created in the daily care of the garment. The rosary wrapped around her waist is a replica of the order's habit rosary. She has expressive dark blue eyes & her delightful face is exceptionally dignified & beautiful. The doll is handcrafted in the United States & made of a rigid, high-quality vinyl that combines the aesthetics of porcelain with the durability & desirable handling properties of a nearly indestructible material. The doll was never displayed & is in Near Mint condition. It will make a wonderful gift for profession day, Easter, Christmas, Mothers' Day, graduation, birthdays, & any other special gift giving occasion. Will ship boxed via USPS Priority Mail.
