This pair of antique doors was originally painted in rich, vibrant colors, & adorned with bronze or iron hardware, such as door knockers & handles. Today since they have been exposed to the elements for a long time the color has washed away, & the doors feature a lovely aged semi-oxidized finish. Antique courtyard doors are typically tall & narrow & may have several panels that can be opened & closed to reveal the room beyond. The frames are generally thick & sturdy, & the doors themselves are heavy & solid. They are often used in traditional Chinese architecture & are considered to be works of art, not just functional items.
