June Jameson's Artist Statement Many people ask me how I became an artist & like so many other artists my answer is simple, it's just who I am & have always been. Artists just have to create & often as visual artists, our creations are influenced heavily by our surroundings or what we see. However, our mind sees more than what our eyes see & that's exactly how I became an artist primarily focused on faith. Since as far back as I can remember, I was blessed to have a relationship with God that is more real to me than the ground I am standing on. Even as a small child, I would talk to Jesus like a friend who was always with me. I lost that faith for a time in early adulthood, but thankfully, I got it back quickly. So my day, my surroundings, what my mind sees most of the time has something to do with God. I see aspects of Him greatly in His creation; in all kinds of people, in oceans, in flowers, in birds, in the sunlight filtering through green leaves to name a few. My purpose for painting
