Description
Vintage solid sterling silver heart-shaped box with great working hinged lid in very fine condition with no damage. Silver has light scratches from normal use & polishing. Turquoise has a natural dark fissure; it moves a little in its bezel but is secure. Hinged lid is decorated with a small bezel-set green turquoise cabochon encircled in a sterling twisted rope. Three sterling loops branch off the central gem, matching the 2 lobes of the heart & the pointed base. Hinged lid flips up from the top & holds securely closed when shut. The interior lid is hand hammered on the inside & the whole interior has an original light protective coating. Base is stamped "STERLING MEXICO". This exact stamping was used mainly during the late 1940s to early 1950s. Comes in a nice paperboard gift box with a square of protective padding. The item is enclosed in a plastic bag with a black tarnish prevention strip. Storing items with silver content in a bag like this keeps moisture off the piece & should minimize silver oxidation & provide a longer time before polishing is needed to keep it bright.
