Olive oil & the beeswax used to thicken up the salve are incredibly soothing & help keep the skin from drying out. Ever popular Coconut oil works beneath the skin to heal on a cellular level, wonderful for dry skin needing moisture. Castor oil is another important addition to help hold in moisture & help with the itch of dry skin. Over the counter & prescription lotions & salves are often petroleum based products. Mineral oil & petroleum jelly do moisturize & form a barrier but they can clog the pores & prevent air from reaching the skin. Much better for the skin are oils that offer nutritional benefits as well. Used in India & Pakistan for thousands of years, Neem oil is a key ingredient. Extracted from the fruits & seeds of the Neem tree, its thick oil is highly moisturizing. Tea tree & Lavender essential oils are added for their "medicine in a bottle" properties. This Herbal Salve is available in a choice of a 1/2 oz 1 oz 2 oz. or 4 oz. size plastic jar. The combination of Witch Hazel & Glycerin is another option.
