Description
This is a fabulous large Italian Sorrento olive wood marquetry hand mirror with hardwood inlay creating a scene of a couple dancing, the woman appearing to hold a tambourine or instrument of some sort. I believe these Italian marquetry mirrors & other similarly styled items were made in the late 1800s to the 1920s or so. It measures about 16 3/4" long & 7" wide. in good antique condition, it is free of damage or repair & shows typical wear commensurate to age. The marquetry work is intact & complete with some typical crazing to the wood, & the mirror is original with some light wear to the mirroring on the edges. There is a little play in the mirror so it is slightly loose; this is also typical & appears to be original. It feels secure to me. This is a 100+ year old item & the wear is acceptable & expected & the mirror is lovely & collectible. I am selling it AS FOUND.
