MORE ABOUT LETTERPRESS: Letterpress is a traditional printing technique that has been used for centuries to create printed materials such as books, newspapers, posters, & cards. in letterpress printing, a raised surface, usually made of metal or polymer, with the text or image to be printed is inked & then pressed onto paper, leaving a deep impression. The process of letterpress printing involves several steps. First, the text or image is set in reverse on the surface of a metal or polymer plate, with the raised areas being the parts that will come into contact with the paper. The plate is then inked with a roller or other device, & the excess ink is removed. Next, a sheet of paper is placed on the press bed, & the inked plate is pressed onto the paper, transferring the ink & creating the printed image. Each color in a design requires a separate plate & run through the press. The resulting print has a unique texture & visual appeal due to the impression left by the raised surface of the printing plate. Letterpress printing is often used for high-end stationery, business cards, wedding invitations, & other special occasion printing. While letterpress printing has largely been replaced by digital printing in commercial printing, it continues to be appreciated & used by artisans & craftspeople for its distinctive look & the tactile quality of the printed materials it produces.
