Description
This vintage embroidered signature quilt is an amazing social document created by the Women's Society of Christian Service (WSCS). Containing over 800 parishioner names from the Vincent Methodist Church in Nutley, New Jersey, the vintage quilt shows family surnames or church social group affiliations in the center of each panel with embroidered individual names radiating from the center circles. The names are embroidered in red thread on cream color fabric panels & quilted into a red fabric boarder & backing. The vintage quilt is dated 1952. This is a large, queen-size bed quilt measuring approximately 108" x 96". The vintage quilt has 90 individual panels. The vintage quilt is in its "as found" condition & has not recently been laundered. The quilt has some spots on the back but is in overall very good vintage condition.
