This loose sari silk ribbon is hand cut strips of silk sari fabric which have not been tied end to end & made into skeins. Instead it has been left in strips so that you can separate each section the way you want it, whether it is for weaving or wall hangings, jewelry making or other fiber art works you don't need to work with a full skein. This silk sari ribbon has been cut by women's collectives in rural India. These women's small businesses give them the chance to earn their own income by working from home & can thus afford to send their children to school.
