It's a Breton style hat which rolls up all around & sits atop your head. It is made from Mohair wool in a lovely deep gold color. Made by Merrimac, The Merrimac Hat Company was a prominent manufacturer of hats from the 1860s until the 1950s, employing up to 500 people in its manufacturing facilities in Amesbury, Massachusetts & another 1,500 in facilities from Alabama to Nova Scotia. This hat is very comfortable to wear & I find it to be rather whimsical. It's in wonderful vintage condition with normal age wear. It is marked on the inside which I have pictured for you.
