We're pleased to offer a three-piece replacement set in the beautiful mid-century modern 'Carousel' china pattern by Georges Briard, made in Japan. This set consists of a dinner plate, bread plate & tea/coffee flat cup. The fine white china features a brightly colored scallop patterned border in yellow, orange & red with a retro green outline. The pieces are stamped "Georges Briard, BOUTIQUE FINE CHINA, CAROUSEL, J&H INTERNATIONAL JAPAN" underneath. Georges Briard, born Jakub Brojdo in Poland, took the name Jascha Brojdo when he moved to Chicago in 1937. He would keep this name for his art pieces, as he was a painter as well, but adopted the name Georges Briard for his hugely popular commercial china, cocktail glassware & barware in the 1950's to 1970's. He became an American award-winning designer for these products which were stocked at high-end department stores, such as Neiman Marcus & Bonwit Teller. The dinner plate is 10.25" wide, the bread plate 6.25" wide, the flat cup 3" tall, 2.75" wide at top rim & holds about 6oz. The set is in excellent condition - just some minor scuffing on the plates from being stacked. The pieces look like they were barely used with very brilliant color & shine.
