Description
Beautiful antique 1923 Austrian sports medal for the race 'Quer Durch Wien" (Across Vienna) features an image of two runners passing the baton. The extraordinarily popular historic relay race 'Quer durch Wien', which was held from 1919 without interruptions until 1966, always had its finale along the Prater Hauptallee to sports ground of Wiener Athletiksport Club. Material: Appears to be bronze, but I am not positive on this. Measurements: approx 1 1/2" x 1 1/8" Age: 1920's Signed: FK - I belive the FK stands for Vienna medallist: Franz Kounitzky (1880-1928) Condition: Previously owned antique medal that is 100 years old.
