APHRODITE OF APHRODISIAS The goddess of Love & Beauty: Aphrodite. The relief was discovered in Aphrodisias city, in Türkiye which had a famous school of art & sculpture. The cult image has the hieratic & solemn profile of the Anatolian Mother Goddesses, which makes it similar to the Artemis of Ephesus. She is not an Aphrodite in the Greek way nor a Roman Venus, she is a clear representation of the Great Mother of the World. With the mural crown on her head, which is similar to the Goddess of Cybele or Roman Fortune, & a myrtle diadem is showing the fact that Aphrodite is the queen of flowery season as well as the blossoming of the soul. On her chest there is a crescent moon, in a position pointing its horns downwards, projected on the Earth. This is a symbol of how she is designating the cosmic power of the Great Mother. A vertical star is located on her crown as well, which is a six-pointed one, symbolizing Venus, the star of the Goddess of Love. This high quality handmade statue is made of polyester & marble powder. The original relief is exhibited in the Aphrodisias Ancient City Museum.
