Description

If you enjoy tea ceremony or just having a nice bowl of tea, this vintage Japanese chawan or tea bowl may be for you. We believe it to be Kyo ware, made by one of the many kilns in & around Kyoto. It has a lovely, shallow, notched footed shape, & measires about 4.8" across & about 2.6" high. The glaze is white over dark brown clay, as shown in the photos. There are two sets of what appear to be dango balls (mochi balls on a stick, with sweet soy glaze), done in blue underneath the white glaze. This chawan is in very good condition with no visible damage, & weighs about 7.5 oz, unpacked. This chawan would be a nice addition to a teaware collection, especially if you study Japanese tea ceremony, Chanoyu or Chado, under one of the San-Senke schools, or three houses of tea: Urasenke, Omotetsenke, & Mushakōjisenke. If you are interested in tea, please see our other chawan & Chado, Chanoyu, Way of Tea items for sale in our shop. We're happy to answer any questions or send additional photos! Please ask all questions about condition, shipping, etc., before making a purchase. Thanks for looking & check back often, as we will be adding many items to our shop over the next few weeks! Please note that items with "free shipping" are for the lower 48 states only. If you are in Alaska or Hawaii, contact us for an exact shipping quote.
