This is a beautiful set of SIx Japanese Laquerware Bowls Made by Maruni, made in Occupied Japan This is the period after Japan surrendered in WW2 1945 - 1952 This are all clearly marked Maruni, & Hand Made in Occupied Japan These bowls are each 5 7/8 inches in diameter & stand 1 1/2 inches tall Each is hand decorated using Abalone shells, to create a beautiful representation of Mt Fuji These are quite heavy for being laquerware, they feel like ceramic. 4 of them look perfect. 2 have a couple teany flea bites at the rim, & 1 has a small bit of abalone missing, or its just a piece that looks brown. Please see the 8th & 9th photos. I also have a great many pieces of Couroc from California, which is similar but yet very different.
