Corinthian Bronze Helmet-Spartan Warriors Hoplites-Ancient Greek History-Museum Copy-Ancient Olympia Details: Condition: New, Handmade in Greece Material: Pure Bronze Height: 26 cm(10 inches) Width: 22 cm(8.6 inches) Length: 27 cm(10.6 inches) Weight: 6.3 kg Originals of these can be seen in museums across the world, but the prototypes are in the Olympia Museum in Greece. A hoplite was the most common type of heavily armed foot soldier in ancient Greece from the 7th to 4th centuries BCE, & most ordinary citizens of Greek city-states with sufficient means were expected to equip & make themselves available for the role when necessary. Hoplites were instrumental in Greek warfare & the victories of Greek armies over Persia at the battle of Marathon (490 BCE) & the battle of Plataea (479 BCE) during the Greco-Persian Wars. All our bronze items are cast in Greece, using the traditional 'lost wax' method. As nothing is mass-produced, there will inevitably be slight variations in patination & coloring. Each piece is, therefore, unique.
