A beautiful new, handmade cushion featuring an 19th french tapestry panel The french tapestry used to create this piece is circa 1900 & originally came in long strips, likely created to frame a doorway or window. The pattern is extremely beautiful & a wonderful example of the style of the period; an ornate pattern of stylised flowers & leaves in shades of pink & blue, olives, ocher, lilac, maroon & gold. The original colors used have mellowed over time as evidenced by looking at the back of the piece. It is stitched entirely in wool on canvas & would have been completed using a charted pattern. I have pieced two lengths of this wonderful tapestry together to create a square, added a SILK velvet backing in a lovely dusty rose. This is a truly special & singular piece of history. The cushion contains a brand new down feather insert. The insert is slightly oversized for a plump, well shaped 'elegant' cushion. Measures: 15" x 15" As many of my items are made using antique, vintage & repurposed materials they may show some signs of their former lives.
