I first visited Bar Harbor during a trip with my parents in late spring because my dad had this potential boat building gig. I was so excited to see Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park, but we were all excited at the potential of moving out of the County & living near the ocean. We would finally be able to understand when our family & friends in Virginia would be like, "How's Maine - How 'bout them lobsters?". & we wouldn't have to respond with "We only understand snowmobiles, logging, & potatoes." That's a joke, but really it's followed me my whole life because no one knows of how awesome the North Maine woods is & how it should define our state just as much as lobster. The job was not what dad expected, it wasn't a good fit or he was told something different or some such nonsense & he had a hissy fit & didn't want to at least enjoy the rest of our trip, which made it hard to empahize with his dinged ego. At this point I lose focus, but I do remember getting to have these little stolen moments in Bar Harbor on Main Street with my mother, & though we didn't know a trauma was looming - we enjoyed the spring breeze in the picturesque town. I have painted this with a colorful bubble design throughout the image playing off the black linework to give just a slightly more funky/abstract feel to my usual style. I really enjoy combining my love for nature with my comic book style linework. The giclee print measures 7 x 5 inches & has a 10 x 8 inch black matting.
