Description

Made in Cameroon by blacksmiths from the Namji tribe, these dolls are originally unadorned & used as playthings for young girls. Upon reaching puberty the doll becomes a fertility doll & is dressed in beads, shells, coins & other trinkets & are cared for as though a real child. Traditionally, Namji dolls were used as good luck charms, amulets, decorations, gifts, play things, ritual practices & family heirlooms. Dolls were made from just about anything; clay, wood, & weaved fibre. These Namji dolls are made from wood, beads, cowrie shells & fabric. Available in multiple colours, sizes & designs. Dolls are adorned with beads, cowry shells & string, no two dolls are the same. Measurements may vary slightly. 18cm 7" Unique pair of Namji Dolls with white beaded skirts, use them on a shelf or as a curtain holder decor. From my home in the African bushveld to yours.
