Icon with water-gilding on natural linden wood.The wood has been prepared in heat & gilded with gold leaf 24K, in accordance with traditional Byzantine techniques.The icon has been painted with egg-tempera paints for best performance & endurance of colors used.The colors were chosen based on studies & analyses of older icons by renowned iconographers from Mountain Athos. About this Icon: Jesus initially called a disciple by the name of Andrew. Throughout his travels, he spread the gospel of Christ & miraculously cured several sick individuals. Achaia was his final stop, & there he was crucified.It is important to note that the Apostle Andrew is revered as the founder of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. The city of Patra, where the apostle Andrew's skull is stored, honors him as its patron saint. The 30th of November is the day of his feast.
