Description

Offered as a PAIR, these two framed lithographs are portraits of the Prince & Princess Frederick William of Prussia. These are black & white lithographs that have been framed in large wood frames. Her portrait was drawn & engraved by D.J. Pound, & at the bottom of the lithograph it notes "Married Jan 25th, 1858". Of course, as was the style of the day, she took on the title & his name, & her maiden name is not inscribed anywhere. His portrait was also engraved by D.J. Pound, from a photograph by Mayall, by command of her Majesty. Under his name & title is also the note "Married Jan 25th, 1858", & this time she is recognized as Her Royal Highness the Princess Victoria of England. (This Victoria was Queen Victoria's eldest daughter.) The Prince lived from 1831 - 1888 & he was King of Prussia in 1888 for only 99 days; The Princess Victoria lived from 1840 - 1901. The lithographs are undated, but they are likely to have been printed in the decades following their marriage, in the later 19th century. The frames appear original, & they are matching, & are simple unpainted wood with an inner gold fillet, & the fillet shows wear & the frames have minor dings & dents. The frames measure about 16 5/8" high by 12 3/4" wide & 1" thick & they are in square & solid. Each framed piece weighs about 3 pounds, so the pair will come to you in a box weighing almost 7 pounds. Under glass & ready to hang. in fair to good condition. You get BOTH framed portraits with FREE shipping within the United States. Sorry I will not offer them separately. 12351 Pair Of 19Th Century Portraits, Prince & Princess Frederick William Prussia, Framed Lithographs, Old Art Salvage
