Description

This is a pair of Bookends designed by Art Deco Era designer Walter Von Nessen for the Chase copper & Brass Company. Walter Von Nessen (1899-1943) was born in Berlin Germany & emigrated to the U.S. in 1925. After establishing Nessen Studios in New York, he designed many lamps for architects of the period. He became very known for his floor & table lamps. He also designed for Chase in the 1930s. This pair of Bookends is a result of that collaboration. The design is very streamline emulating the Art Deco skyscrapers that were being erected at that time. They are brass with a bronze nickel finish & a blackened finish. They look very chrome in the photos, but in fact have more of a brass patina with black. They are in excellent vintage condition with some surface wear, scratches & patina. They measure 5 3/4" high x 4 1/4" wide x 2 3/4" deep Walter Von Nessen For Chase Art Deco Era Machine Age Bookends Modernist
