Description
Blacksmith weathervane, smartly crafted on a family farm in South Freeport. Measuring 22 x 35, this handcrafted vane was made by a farmer in homage to his grandfather who did smithing, mostly horse shoeing, as a side gig. The galvanized sheetmetal was overpainted, some of which has weathered off. The backside of the vane is of special note, as forged rods were fashioned & riveted as supports. The craftsmanship is pretty darned good, as is the overall artistry. Of course, it could be reintroduced to a barn peak as a functioning vane but currently, it is offered along with a wood stand for room display. Vintage Sheet Metal Blacksmith Weathervane
