Description

Show your Norman pride with this highly decorated silver plate brooch from the 1940s. The Norman coat of arms is the centerpiece of the pin, decorated with two leopards. The arabesque scroll & vine decorative motif of the brooch adds character & elegance. This is a fabulous statement brooch for the Francophile in your life. The Norman coat of arms is derived from William the Conquerer's heraldry, the first Duke of Normandy. The two leopards (not lions) represent Maine & Normandy, the two regions William controlled during the Norman Invasion of England. The brooch is in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The surface of the silver plate has a few fine lines & marks but nothing noticeable or obvious. The c-clasp has a small piece missing but still holds the pin. The hinge is a little stiff, & the back is not stamped or marked. The brooch measures 2-1/2" tall & wide & weighs 20.33 grams. The box is for display only. I try to accurately depict the item in my photographs & the listing details. Please note the measurements in the description, as images can often make the item appear larger than the actual size. I combine shipping on multiple orders!
