Vintage William Steig (1907-2003, American) enamel copper plate, raised edges, black design over yellow background featuring a stylized male figure & inscription "Forgive Me - I'm Only Human" below, signed "Bernad" on the verso. Other enamel plates are listed in my Etsy shop, including works of Steig. William Steig was a cartoonist, sculptor, and, in his later life, an illustrator & writer of children's books. Best known for the picture books Sylvester & the Magic Pebble, Abel's Island, & Doctor De Soto, he was also the creator of Shrek!, which inspired the film series of the same name. in very good vintage condition with some imperfections, small scratches & discoloration.
