Description
This antique English sterling thimble from James Fenton dates to 1890. It is all honeycomb accept for the raised bottom rim. Size: I see no size marking. Measurements: small at approx 3/4" high, hint over 1/2" wide across the inside of the finger hole. Hallmarks: stamped along the lower rim with the maker's mark J.F for James Fenton, lion passant for the sterling silver content, date letter that looks like 1890, & the Birmingham anchor. Condition: some dents around the finger hole opening, the honeycomb can be seen & felt inside the thimble. I can't tell if there are a couple of very minor dents or if the hard-to-reach tarnish inside the honeycomb is tricking me.
