Description
This very old steel printing plate was used to print the cover for a music score. This plate is the Calsonia Park March, by M.A. Althouse, & the plate engraver or the publisher is J. S. Althouse Company Limited of Reading, Pennsylvania. This would have produced the cover sheet to the March music score, & an interesting detail is that the March was dedicated to Robert N. Carson, Esq., who perhaps funded or commissioned the music composition. The plate is comprised of one panel that would produce one page. I'm pretty sure that this steel sheet was made in the late 1920s or possibly 1930s, & it shows some wear along the perimeter. The sheet is flat & surprisingly heavy, weighing just over 1 pound. It measures about 11" by 8" & is in good legible & clear condition. Interesting, very rare, & unusual find, which can be re-purposed & appreciated as art. FREE shipping within the United States.
