This is a truly beautiful set made sometime between 1945-1955. The design incorporates a delicate pattern with baroque style "petals. It almost captures the look of a snowflake. The gold pattern has been complimented by bright, prong set, faceted, colored glass stones. The color is a perfect match to the crimson of a Siam Ruby. The look is delicate, feminine & eye catching. These remarkable stones are also quite special. They were crafted in Germany shorty after WWII in all likelihood by Czech glass artisans. After WWII, NATO was trying to jumpstart the German economy & invested in small businesses to promote capitalism. They fostered the jewelry industry for it required artisans & craftsmen who were largely unemployed at this time. Czechoslovakia was the leader in glass gemstone production before WWII, after the war with their manufacturing businesses collapsed, they sought work in the developing German jewelry industry (with the help of the American occupying forces). These Czechoslovakian glass artisans were masters of their craft. They were able to replicate precious & semi-precious stones with an artistry & precision remarkable by today's standards. The stones found in this set are examples of this artistry. They are absolutely stunning.
