It is entirely hand-painted using their advanced technic. The material of linen is hand-made by Kyoto noren which we also carry a lot. The Noren is originally used for the entrance of the house for the light removal. It is also a feature of Noren that you can easily change the atmosphere of the room by hiding the back of the house from the entrance at the time of visiting,using the goods as a partition of the room & blindfold. Since the olden days, people say that Norens Curtain are a mystical barrier against evil & can remove the bad vibes from outside that cause illness & other misfortune. -Tousen kiln Kiyomizuyaki Ceramics - The products of Tousen-gama(kiln) are characterized by the technique of underglaze painting in particular. After painting, craftsmen glaze & fire wares at the same time. They create unique transparency, softness & countless numbers of different hues, though perhaps not so delicate & vivid as overglaze painting. Needless to say, it is safe from lead-melting. Both wheel thrown pottery & underglaze painting are their specialties. The splendor & refined elegance of Kyo-style-ceramics,Kiyomizu ware is created based on sophisticated design & various proficient skills. History of pottery & porcelain in Kyoto started more than 1,200 years ago,in Nara period. A Buddhist priest, Gyoki built a kiln & made earthenware in Seikanji. Now the ruins of the temple is called "Chawan-zaka". Kyo-style ceramics, Kiyomizu ware products are mostly handmade & the feature of that is in wide variety in small quantity.
