High Density Fiberboard It's an engineered, composite wood board that has no natural wood grain, but is easy to paint with any acrylic paint. It absorbs paint fast, so it is best to paint thin layers on. If the paint is dragging, the paint may need to be thinned a little with water or get your paint brush damp. Acrylic or oil based paint pens work great too! HDF should never be put in contact with direct moisture/weather as it is water resistant, but not waterproof. It won't warp as it is resistant to absorbing moisture from the air. It is durable, but not quite as structurally capable as regular wood. This beautiful project was painted & staged by Jo Ann at Dragon Flys Dance.
