Description: A lovely vintage heart shaped locket on a 14K gold filled chain. This classic locket necklace features an ornate front with both etched designs that are filled with a dark color to make them really stand out. The center has a Vertical rectangular shape that comes to a point at the bottom. Below & around it are some etched floral & leafy shapes. There is a zig zag line above the rectangle & more arched shapes above that at the top of the locket front. The back side of this heart locket is engraved with the initials MRG & WEC underneath each other, which are most likely the initials of the lovebirds who are represented in these initials. This retro gold plated heart shaped locket is circa the mid 1900s. There are two heart shaped compartments inside that show their age - they are quite dark & pitted, however photos would cover this if used to hold 2 heart shaped pictures. The locket hinge is on the left & it opens on the right side. The locket closes securely. The locket hangs from a very fine 18" long link 14K gold filled chain with a spring ring clasp. The bale on the locket is a plain round loop. The clasp opens & closes securely. A wonderful piece of antique sweetheart jewelry!
