Here is a lovely French/American flag / ship blanket in the beloved Tunisian cross stitch method. This is a mid century blanket & could've been a commemorative blanket for someone who served in the naval forces. Or even part of the American Revolutionary wars as many items were made in 1976 as part of America's 200th birthday. I have found a similar blanket with the same patterns just different placement of the ships that was a 1940s pattern. The eagle is similar to the French Imperial Eagle / Napoleonic eagle. The imperial eagle usually sits on a staff. I tried to figure out this blanket but have been unable, so it maybe a fun addition to the nautical / Francophile / patriotic home. She had textiles from around the world as well as antique quilts like the Nancy Page quilt that is in my shop. I have NOT washed this blanket. No major issues noticed, very minor flaws.
