We fish differently all over the world, but the basic truth is that we all love to fish. These prints are about sustainable fishing. This is the type of rod & reel / net fishing I grew up with having been born in a developing country. We had fishermen & women & we traversed to fish markets daily to get our fish. Either that, or the fish lady came to our house to hawk. It was awesome! Now, let's talk about how people fish all over the globe: Norway: Norway is known for its abundant & diverse marine life, which has made fishing a central part of its economy & culture for centuries. The country has a long tradition of fishing, with a strong focus on sustainable & responsible practices. in Norway, fish are typically caught using a variety of methods, including trawling, gillnetting, & longlining. The most common types of fish caught in Norway include cod, haddock, & salmon. Philippines: Fishing is an important industry in the Philippines, with the country being home to a diverse range of marine life. in the Philippines, fishing is typically done using small boats & traditional methods, such as handlining & netting. The most common types of fish caught in the Philippines include tuna, mackerel, & sardines. United States: Fishing in the United States is a diverse & varied industry, with different regions specializing in different types of fishing. in the United States, fish are typically caught using a variety of methods, including trawling, gillnetting, & longlining. Fly fishing is a popular & relaxing hobby in the US. Spain: The most common types of fish caught in Spain include tuna, sardines, & anchovies. Spaniards are known for their tapas which often include fresh, raw seafood . . . so the fish HAS to be fresh. Italy: Italians are know for their fish markets at coastal cities. The men go out to fish & the women prepare the fish once they are caught. On coastal cities in Italy fishermen go out daily & it's rare that you aren't able to purchase live, fresh fish. France: Fishing is an important industry in France, with the country being home to a diverse range of marine life. in France, fishing is typically done using small boats & traditional methods, such as handlining & netting. Japan: The Japanese are known for their world famous fish markets, the largest of which is Tokyo's Tsukiji Market. Side note, I love sushi, if you do too, check out my sushi prints: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1322288238/sushi-art-prints-japanese-food-art-print While the basic act of fishing is largely the same around the world, the way in which it is done can vary greatly depending on the location. From the sustainable & responsible practices of Norway to the small boats & traditional methods used in countries like the Philippines, Spain, Italy, France, & Japan, the way in which fishing is carried out is influenced by the unique characteristics & cultures of each country.
